Ottopen treats manuscripts as private creative work. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how provider integrations fit into the product, and what options you have to manage your content.

What we collect
- Account information such as your email address, display name, sign-in events, and authentication metadata.
- Creative workspace data such as manuscripts, chapters, scenes, character notes, beat sheets, AI chat history, and project metadata.
- Audio-related data such as voice selections, audition requests, render metadata, and generated preview, test, or final audio files when audiobook features are enabled.
- Operational data such as error logs, timing data, and basic product telemetry needed to maintain the service.
How we use your data
- To authenticate you, store your manuscripts, and operate your workspace.
- To run the AI or voice features you request.
- To troubleshoot, secure, and improve Ottopen.
- To send account, security, and support communications.
When data is shared with third parties
Ottopen does not sell manuscript content or personal data. However, Ottopen does share limited data with service providers that help deliver the product. Categories of providers may include:
- AI text providers, such as Anthropic or OpenAI, when hosted text features are enabled;
- Voice generation providers, such as ElevenLabs, when audiobook features are enabled;
- Authentication, data, and file storage providers that help operate your private workspace;
- Payment processors, such as Stripe, if and when paid billing is enabled; and
- Analytics or monitoring providers, if we enable them for product reliability.
What leaves Ottopen?
Account and billing data may leave Ottopen when authentication, email, payment, support, or infrastructure providers are needed to operate the service. Manuscript text leaves Ottopen only when you invoke a feature that needs a provider, such as hosted AI rewriting, story-memory generation, voice previews, test renders, or final chapter audio rendering. Generated preview and final audio may be stored privately by Ottopen to provide playback; preview and test audio may expire. Final audio downloads are available only where the plan or approved production access allows them.
How AI providers are used
When you choose an AI-powered feature, Ottopen sends only the content needed for that feature. Depending on the task, that may include selected text, active chapter context, story-memory context, or a short voice audition sample. Ottopen does not automatically send your full manuscript to providers in the background.
Provider retention, abuse review, and training rules depend on the live terms and settings of the provider used for the request. Ottopen does not claim provider guarantees beyond the configurations it can verify.
Can humans at Ottopen read my manuscript?
Ottopen does not review manuscripts as a normal part of using the product. Limited human access may occur only when needed to provide support you request, investigate abuse or security issues, comply with law, or operate approved production workflows. Support access should be limited to the content needed for the issue.
Storage and security
Ottopen uses encrypted network transport, account-scoped access controls, and private storage practices intended to keep one writer's workspace separate from another's.
Retention and deletion
If you delete your account, Ottopen aims to remove associated content from active systems within 30 days. Backups, provider logs, and storage retention windows may delay full deletion outside live systems for a limited period.
Your choices
- You can stop using AI-powered features at any time.
- You can contact Ottopen to request access, correction, deletion, or export help for your account data.
- Self-serve account deletion is available where configured; otherwise support handles deletion manually.
- You can contact privacy@ottopen.app with privacy questions or requests.
Children
Ottopen is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age required by local law. If you believe a child created an account, contact us so we can review and remove it.
Changes to this policy
We will update the effective date above when this policy changes. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will provide additional notice where required.
